HEY OK
THE BRIEF
In founder Steve Bliesner’s own words, Hey OK is a "sort of" but "not really" creative agency.
Steve’s core business is The Photo Booth Guys – a photo booth hire business that would traditionally cover events like weddings. But the term “photo booth" was pigeon-holing his company, which actually serves a huge range of clients, with solutions including visual/live-event experiences for brands, videography, 3D imagery, custom camera rigging and even social content for apps like TikTok.
Steve was looking for an identity for this new sub brand, which would need show a clear representation of the video/creative space, but be open enough to cover more than just photo booths.
THE SOLUTION
I attempted multiple versions of a logotype option, but ultimately we settled on this option which uses the iris of a lens to leave an ‘O’ space in the word ‘OK’. The lens is cut into the surrounding letter forms so that the design can use negative space to show the lens portion, with a little reflective highlight in the upper corner to highlight the detail.
I then combined the logo with a punchy colour scheme, along with some bespoke background assets, including a viewfinder frame and a topical representation of a histogram. These add an extra layer of depth to the designs.
