Taylored Technology

THE BRIEF
Taylor Broach is a former IBM staffer who runs Taylored Technology, a tech consulting company in Monterey, CA. Taylor’s company does everything from wifi setup, to home & office security, network cabling and smart home connectivity. Think hardware and software solutions. Basically, anything tech-related, he can sort out for you. He’s obsessively customer-focussed and the company tagline (which I love) is, “Here to fix your blinky light issues.”

Taylor’s old logo had a little too much detail in it, and wasn’t really working when printing on to dark coloured uniforms or backgrounds. He was interested in exploring new colour palettes, as well a personalised, simpler logo that represented the tech focus behind his business.

THE SOLUTION
The concept we decided on is a depiction of a network icon, that not only includes the blinky light LED shape you often see on wifi routers, but also includes two Ts in the space between them when the bottoms are connected.

We tried out multiple ways to create a separation under the boxes, including halftone dots, and a stepped gradient. In the end it was Taylor that came up with the perfect solution. A pixelated gradient that not only worked in one-colour, but represented data packets being sent. This design could also be used as a background asset on things like business cards and cover photos for socials.

I tried a new colour option for him, but in the end Taylor thought it best to stick with his original colour choices for a bit of brand recognition.
